Moral High Ground
« on: 03 September 2009, 12:34:31 »
We Have all seen The tf2 blog by now. And the plan has come into action.
I got a Lovley message saying how good i am

Then a hat as a reward, each class can use this hat. and all have it equiped at the same time, it only shows in the selection menu and not the suitcase.

So, what do you think, i think it is a fun way around a small problem.

Good thing they have a sence of humor.

They could have avoided this controversy by contacting Drunken f00l, creator of the idle program. He stated on his site that he would remove the idle program if Valve saw it as cheating.

It's like driving 80 on a road. After a month they put a sign there with speedlimit 50. Everyone who drove 80 before the sign now needs to pay because they drove too fast.

I used this program for the first time only last week. The moral high ground required either the patience of a saint, or the general laziness to not even look for the program in the first place. The latter making up the entire TF2 community with stupid little halos, also those numbers valve produced are absolute bulls**t.

I'll just use those halos as little targeting rings for my headshots....

EDIT: For the moaning bastards like me

lol I was using idling program.  Its not my fault Valves system is broken.  It doesn't seemed to be linked to length of time spent playing the game or anything so you end up with people playing for 5 minutes having hats and you can play for 3 years and not get a hat.

Its a broken system, broken systems annoy me as does being hatless so I tried to fix the system because Valve didn't :P

Anyway the Halos look stoopid and apparently ATM you can see them on cloaked spies at least on the server I was on so good luck with that Halo wearers :D

I agree it just makes you sniper fodder if your wearing one.  UUuuuhhhh  Shiny headshot.

I don't see idling as cheating because the system is broken and the items never did anything anyway.  Its just for sh**s and giggles that I want a hat which Valve refuse to give me after playing for probably a couple of hundred hours so maybe make it less random and more linked to length of service, eh Valve?

Most of the Halo owners agree that the special hats cause a fair amount of elitism, so no one really wears them. Btw, Valve said that about 4.5% of the community idled. I smell some bullcrap, tbh.

Lol at your comparisons Killzone.  8)

The moral high ground required either the patience of a saint, or the general laziness to not even look for the program in the first place.

Or not care about hats enough to do it. Let's face it, you barely see them yourself so what's the point?

EDIT: On second thought don't answer, I don't want to get in a hat discussion.

The whole hat thing created elitism in the first place. Imo the worst thing they implemented ever.

Inflation. They're rare and that makes them special. Not so much if everyone idles. I'm not a supa dupa fan of that sort of thing, really, but I like my stuff vanilla.

I'm mostly annoyed that through all my idling I never got one hat :(

I already had all the weapons which are the only thing that makes a difference anyway.

Valve keep doing everything in their power to keep me hatless  .(

You're just jealous. I can read between the lines.

Then again, I'm a very patient person.

Agreed completely. This system is broken and should of never been implemented to a game like Team Fortress 2 in the first place - I've hated it all along.

Either way, I have my halo. ;) Poo on you, idling tossers!
I say this, be ye redy with good hert
To al my wil, and that I frely may
As me best pleaseth do you laughe or smert,
And never ye to murmur, night or day;
And eek whan I say yea, ye say not nay,
Neyther by word, nor frownyng countenaunce?
Swer this, and here I swer our alliaunce.
