What unlocks do you use, and what are your opinions on them?

30 damage with flare is not much anyway. And in 1vs1 scattergun vs FAN wins the scattergun. Ofcourse you will do damage, but you will die and he will live.

Actually Fan would win a one on one. The two shots from the fan can kill a scout they are much faster out of the barrel, also if is not a kill the pistol will finnish him while he is in air. atleast thats how i usually take other scouts.(//my guess would be that it depends more on the player than if he is using fan or scatter//) still scatter is usally the better choice.

Err... This is the topic .

Ofcourse it's the player, not the gun. But mostly, you wont hit with every shot, and in that case, the scattergun is mostly a better choice. If you learn to shoot more accurate (hit 70% of your shots), the FAN would be better, cause the knockback is very annoying. But most players (even Div 1 players) can't do this.

Kritzkrieg: Depends on the situation, but this is a clear alternative, not a replacement.
Blutsauger: Replacement; Clear choice.
Ubersaw: Replacement again; The 25% is too much to not want.

Backburner: Rarely.. Backburner's awesome for the ambush style pyro, but how many do you see who uses the BB correctly? Most just W+M1 anyways.
Flare Gun: Sometimes, but I prefer the shotgun. Much better for killing fleeing, burning scouts.
Axtinguisher: Starting to get used to M1+M2+3+M1 enemies when wielding the normal flamethrower, definately a good alternative. Need to flame heavies for a bit longer to get them in one hit, and going for two hits usually gets me dead.

Natascha: Depends. I like Sasha for the raw damage, but on sometimes I use Natascha as well. Either way, both are critical to be civillian.
Sandvich: When there's no medic on the team, this is a good idea. Then again, if there's no medic, I'd be more useful as one.
KGB: Fists are rarely used, but let it be known, people; You can pull off epic killing spree by punching one twat and then switching to Sasha.

Force-a-Nature: No.. This works for harassment and hit and run, but I prefer to kill one if possible and then run away. The FaN also deals less damage (IE; A FaN twoshots a soldier less often than a scattergun does), not to mention knockback causes the second shot to start missing.. Scouts also try to use the FaN normally in some cases, which causes them to die alot more- Something they usually fail to notice.
Bonk!: Depends.. I find Bonk! more useful than the pistol, but you definately do not kill anyone with the Bonk!. That said, I've used it to jump into a sentry's line of fire, boost myself high into the air and sail all the way to unsuspecting opponents, which works beautifully.
Sandman: I could never get good at aiming that damn ball, so no.
