That's not even real music.

Don't deny the truth.
Everyone knows it's not real music. Some just lie to themselves, which is quite sad. :(

Funny how you think you're in a position to define 'real music'

Techno is just as much music as any other genre.

Although I don't like techno, I would argue that it is music.

According to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary, music is defined as a: the science or art of ordering tones or sounds in succession, in combination, and in temporal relationships to produce a composition having unity and continuity b: vocal, instrumental, or mechanical sounds having rhythm, melody, or harmony.

Techno is defined as: Electronic dance music that features a fast beat and synthesized sounds usually without vocals or a conventional popular song structure.

Oh, sure I am.
With common sense and usage of brain you can come to a conclusion like that. :)

You're entitled to your own opinion. But you're prohibited to exploit inadequate methods in order to implicate one's views. So, let's not try to start an inane debate. If you don't like techno - fine, let's leave it at that, no particular reason to let the whole World know, now is there? ;)

There once was a great saying, "Dont argue with idiots in the internet, they'll just drag you to their level and beat you with experience."

I don't see any idea to continue this s**t with Rake, since he's just being arrogant and only supporting the music he listens to.

Peace... and Aniki out...

Well the last bit was a bit o.t.t., but the sentiment was agreeable >.>
And Foozy had himself a good argument.
Then again, were you serious in thinking Techno isn't actually music, or was it just a jokin' kinda sweeping statement? >.>

Knowing Rake - the most positive person on this planet of ours - he's dead serious.

I say this, be ye redy with good hert
To al my wil, and that I frely may
As me best pleaseth do you laughe or smert,
And never ye to murmur, night or day;
And eek whan I say yea, ye say not nay,
Neyther by word, nor frownyng countenaunce?
Swer this, and here I swer our alliaunce.

You know, this reminds me of the time that I decided that since one of my reasons for disliking dance remixes was that they're so easy to write, I should prove this by actually trying to write one myself.  So I took my old laptop, started up Modplug Tracker, and a couple of hours later had cobbled together a 3-minute long dance mix of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 boss music.  This, alas, still managed to counteract my point, as even though I'd proven how easy it was to do, I'd ended up with a dance remix that I actually enjoyed listening to.

</Jan Jansen-esque ramblings>

I've heard the "not real music" label applied to a lot of things, really - rap, techno, even once to Crush 40, the band whose main duty is putting together music for the Sonic games.  Personally I think the music is the remaining reason I still on occasion buy 3D Sonic games, but I digress.  I now try to remain open to any music, though I do find nu metal (which is a daft spelling) to be frequently against my tastes.
