I take back what I said. JBS is awful for mini gaming nights.
Consider it removed from future gaming nights.

Left 4 Dead 2

Yessiree bob. We're gonna run through a few of the campaigns, either in campaign or versus depending on the number of players we get. :) Also in the works is community campaigns, but as of now that's for some other time. So yes!

When? Saturday, 6pm GMT+1, like always. We'll likely keep it friends only and play on a listen server, so I can turn alltalk on.
We're out to have a good time, not to show off how good we play infected and/or survivors, by the way. Refrain from douchebaggery, if you'd be so kind.

It's that time again!

Tomorrow, on Sunday, the 29th, we'll be playing..

Fistful of Frags
It's been updated to 3.5b, so be sure you download the client update and go 3.5b.
FoF was regarded as a lot of fun last time we tried, so to kickstart another short run of week to week mini gaming nights, FoF was high on the list. We'll gather in the chatroom 10~ minutes prior to the event, though the server will probably already be up by then and you can join to warm up.

Like always, we'll start on a listen server, and if/when that gets boring (FoF actually worked quite well with low number of players like 3v3, so we'll see) we can either remove the password or hop on to another server.
18:00 (6 pm) GMT+1, again like always.

Well sorta.
Sorta how, you might wonder.

We're namely going to play..
TrackMania Nations Forever
Yup. But not this week, no. On sunday, 6pm GMT+1, like always, you are to start creating a track for the sunday after that, same time. You have one week, in other words, to build a track, decorate it (If applicable- I usually don't decorate my maps), and then finalize it with as good a time as possible. However, before the event fires, you can download TMNF on Steam early and get used to the driving characteristics and track editor, as well as think up a decent track layout.

On sunday, if you have a map ready for play, you will contact me through Steam and send me the map in one way or another. I'll put them all together in a server, and then we'll play! The one rule is.. Keep the maps shorter than 2~ minutes when running a perfect run, IE, going as fast as possible. So no unnecessarily long maps.

If the track is especially complicated, enough so that some people just can't figure out how you do one thing, you can spectate the creator driving his own track- This should help you figure out the route.

Would just like to remind you that we're playing TMNF today, and if you're joining and adding your own track to the mix, I'd like to have it before the actual gaming time for obvious reasons.

The NDH/VGN gaming night group is up and running. Poke me if I've missed inviting you to it!
This means this thread is not of as much use anymore. We can still use this sub-forum for discussing possible events, games and mods, though!

22:31 - Dicey | NDH: I joined the group and now I remember why I left it
22:32 - Xestoch: And i'm not sure how you could forget why you left the group
22:32 - Xestoch: ze spam
22:36 - Dicey | NDH: I didn't remember the spam
22:36 - Dicey | NDH: I rememberd Sveafur has been pretty dead for ages
22:36 - Xestoch: Ah, see.
22:37 - Xestoch: Well, considering 80-90% of the members are offline.
22:37 - Dicey | NDH: I mean in relevance to gaming nights
22:37 - Dicey | NDH: I used to join them but then some person I can't remember who was hosting them stopped and noone picked it up after that
22:38 - Dicey | NDH: There has been attempts at it and such but they usually fail pretty hard from what I know
22:38 - Dicey | NDH: I can't blame the ones who try to host them either, same reasons I stopped hosting gaming nights for NDH/VGN and left VGN.
22:38 - Xestoch: I'm not sure i understand, what's the problem with hosting gaming nights?
22:48 - Dicey | NDH: I hosted gaming nights for about a year. Turns out noone seems to really give a s**t. I started on the forum, with just a thread. It worked, didn't quite get teh visibility I wanted, but it worked. Bizzie then fixes me up with a sub-forum for gaming night discussion, planning, suggestions, etc, and there's a grand total of 4 or so posts there that aren't mine, so noone is showing any real interest. So I get admin rights for the group instead, some members only visit the forum occasionally. This'll work, right? So I schedule an event to start five minutes before the actual gaming night starts, where we'll gather in the chatroom so I can help people connect and such.
22:48 - Dicey | NDH: 17:53, I join chatroom. 17:54, naga joins. We did this preemptively because we were both in on it already.
22:48 - Dicey | NDH: 17:59, Bizzie joins.
22:48 - Dicey | NDH: At 18:04, Foozy joins, then I spam invites
22:48 - Dicey | NDH: OH AN EVENT they say.
22:48 - Dicey | NDH: I DIDN'T KNOW LOL! This happened each and every time.
22:49 - Xestoch: Ah.
22:49 - Dicey | NDH: Oh well, we end up being six players, play the mod, have fun, etc.
22:49 - Dicey | NDH: Next week, I make sure to not only schedule the event beforehand, but I also post an announcement the day before.
22:50 - Dicey | NDH: Same result. So I ask people if they wanted gaming nights in the first place, and the answer is a giant, resounding -YES-.
22:51 - Dicey | NDH: Several months down the road, I decide to join VGN and get the idea to crosshost the gaming nights. The more the merrier, right? The NDH only ones used to hover at 4-7 players and since VGN is about twice the size of NDH I imagined to get 10+ players. I post and ask about it, they say yes, we testingly invite a couple of VGNers, it works fine. I start a thread on VGN too and post everything everywhere when an event has been planned.
22:51 - Dicey | NDH: Still, noone shows up on their own.
22:51 - Dicey | NDH: Not a single person puts even a finger into joining on their own.
22:52 - Dicey | NDH: So I ask if a joint gaming night group where regulars can join would be better.
22:52 - Dicey | NDH: One place to get all the info about gaming nights and such.
22:52 - Dicey | NDH: People say yes. I create group. Awesome avatar is created by Mad Mike. Players join and are invited to the group. I think I hosted five events like that, then I just gave up.
22:53 - Dicey | NDH: Noone ever joins on their own. Noone seems to even notice there's an event planned. Noone seemed to really care. What was the point of a group supposed to make all these points easier when it doesn't do jack? So I kick everyone, leave the group, week later I apologize to VGN and state I'm leaving and I drop the VGN tag.
22:54 - Dicey | NDH: The amount of EFFORT that I put into hosting weekly gaming nights, planning everything, making sure the server is working, coming up with good ideas for games or mods to play and skits and other funny s**t to do IS NOT WORTH IT WHEN NOONE ELSE SEEMS TO CARE.
22:54 - Dicey | NDH: I put time into it.
22:54 - Dicey | NDH: Noone else did.
22:55 - Dicey | NDH: Sveafur's been having similar problems, hence their spam about the events which is why I left. I don't wanna sink that low so I never spammed my events.
22:55 - Dicey | NDH: For crying out loud, if you want to play in the gaming nights, how hard can it be to just check your comminuty page? It says it very neatly, 'Group name is hosting event name' and you can click it and it tells you everything.
22:55 - Dicey | NDH: A couple of clicks.
22:56 - Dicey | NDH: Noone bothered. So neither will I, f**k gaming nights and have a good day.

Just thought I'd leave this here. I don't feel like it's fair to not have hosted anything lately without telling everyone what's going on. A few of you already know, I think. I remember talking to some of you about it.
