A second go at the second team
« on: 18 November 2009, 19:45:24 »
Well i know most / some of us like competative play, so me and dendo have been talking and i think it may be a good idea to get a semi formal second team running, i am more than happy running it (with help from dendo :p) and i personaly do not mind if i do not play as a constant team member (if somone is better they take my slot)

I DONT WANT ANY APPLICATIONS YET

i am just trying to see how much support there would be for it, i have yet to talk to foozy but i was going to see if we could borrow the competative teams server when it is not in use (we would work arround there schedule, ofcorse they would take priority so we would cancel games if they clashed).

So what do we think, as far as managing goes im more than happy to lead and not neccaceraly play, i would have a no noncence approach to 'important' matters. but more or less it would be simalar to the old setup.

I have yet to refine the details as you can tell, but i think it is possible to pull off succesfully.

so what do you guys think.

I'd say instead of 'most of us like competitive play', it is 'some of us' instead.

Good idea though, it might work out if the team gets a good leader. (Count me out, I'm not a competitive player at all.)
I say this, be ye redy with good hert
To al my wil, and that I frely may
As me best pleaseth do you laughe or smert,
And never ye to murmur, night or day;
And eek whan I say yea, ye say not nay,
Neyther by word, nor frownyng countenaunce?
Swer this, and here I swer our alliaunce.

Could be done if you grab regulars, sure. Best of luck all the same; I'm sure that, if you get it organised, you'd have a lot of applicants in the form of newer members.

..maybe.

I skipped both teams because I generally dislike competetive play, but I'll get back to you if more people decide to have a second go

I wouldn't mind but TBH I got sick of being killed as medic last time we tried this :(

Its just depressing to be left alone as medic which kind of happened too often and I don't blame anyone because it takes time to get disciplined.  It is a different type of play entirely from pub games.  We shaked things up but never got a good balance to the team and I don't think I'm aggressive enough when on my own as medic but I'd be willing to give it a go again.

You can be the best in pubs and crap at competitive play if your not able to stick to your role though.

I'm all for this and can substitute if and when needed, if the team gets off the ground. As I'm sure most of you know, Nim gave up on the second team a while ago for various reasons and I'd rather not see just another repeat of that.

Hell, if we get a second team then we could mix up the members of the teams and practice on the server. The first team's a bit more experienced and I'm sure we could point out at least something. If nothing else it'll just be practice.

@brim Well yes, that's the idea of a pocket soldier. A pocket soldier should -never- leave the medic, unless the medic says go for it. I don't think I ever played against another clan with you as a medic, brim, but if we end up doing so and you're left alone, say the word and the magical Dicey scout (Most often, anyways) will try to home in on you and do his best not to let you die. :3

Well my idea in restarting would be to have less of a soft attitude to matters involvong the team {suprisingly enough i can be commanding :P}

Dont worry you wont have to play with soft reassuring medic (aka me) but if you did i would scream at you all :P.

but mep more or less i think the team needs to be given a good kicking occasionaly and if players dont like it then they dont have to be on the team.

I'd be happy to help out/join as long as I get to play Scout 8)
Dunno how it'd work out with the first team though since I'm already in that/subbing for it every once in a while

Some days ago we acquired a mumble server free to use for the first and second team. Dendo bought it for the small sum of £1.10.
