This hat makes way more sense than the Halo did. Hell, alot of publishers do things like this but this is the first time I've ever heard someone complain about a freebie you get for prepurchasing another game off of the same publisher.
Why not complain about the preorder baseball bat while you're at it? Or the 5 extra L4D2 weapons the germans will get ripped out of Counter Strike? They're just perks you get for one or another reason.
It was different with the Halo. I'm not mad for not getting a Halo, I'm mad at Valve for waiting so long to make punishes- The only logical reason is that they wanted to catch as many Steamstats users as possible, and they created a huge split in the community with the release of the Failo. If Bill's hat causes another split, I'll be here laughing my ass off.

The thing is Valve's kind of lost it with the hats in my opinion, which is what I actually meant by saying I've lost my faith (in them). Even the Ghastly Gibus was unneeded in my opinion (although, I have to admit, it suits some classes really well).

Xearo nailed it really well; the hats not as cool as they once were. I've never been a huge fan of the hats, but I can live with them if I play a round or two of Team Fortress 2. The thing is that there's nothing cool about them if everyone wears one. It's one thing I don't really like about TF2 nowadays.
